Cumberland County Comprehensive Plan

Cumberland County: We Need Your Feedback to Help to Plan for the Future

Residents & Employees in Cumberland County are encouraged to voice their opinions in our survey by Tuesday, October 31,2023

Carlisle, PA – Transportation improvements, land preservation and enhancing the quality of life for residents in Cumberland County are just some of the issues in which the county needs resident feedback. As the fastest growing county in the state, the county is conducting an online survey to help us plan for the future.

Residents and people who work in the county are encouraged to take the survey by Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

As the county updates its Comprehensive and Land Partnership plans, we want to know what is most important to residents:

  • Special places that should be preserved for future generations
  • Actions that should be taken to enhance the county’s quality of life
  • Projects that should be pursed to improve transportation, recreation and natural resources
  • Ways to communicate and engage residents in decision making.

“Residents and people who work in the county have the opportunity to tell us what they want the future of Cumberland County to look like,” said Cumberland County Planning Director Kirk Stoner. “Feedback received will be used to guide us as we update our Comprehensive and Land Partnerships plans.”

The Cumberland County Comprehensive and Land Partnerships plans are long range policy documents that establish goals and objectives for the county. Comprehensive plans typically consider a wide variety of topics including land use, housing, economic development, public facilities, transportation, and natural resource protection. A comprehensive plan is not a zoning ordinance that has legal authority.

The Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (“MPC”, Act 247 of 1968, as reenacted and amended) requires all counties to prepare a comprehensive plan following guidelines established in the statute.

Residents and people who work in the county can complete the survey at: https://arcg.is/1481b50
