Clarification on Acceptance of Personal Checks in the Tax Office – Please note that personal checks will always be accepted in the Tax Office for payment of County/Township and School real estate taxes EXCEPT during the period December 14 through December 31 of each year.  During that period, only cashier’s checks, certified checks or money orders are acceptable for payment of real estate taxes.  My predecessor followed this same procedure for years.

Tax Office Closures – Please note that the Tax Office is closed for vacation on the following dates:

            May 29 thru June 2                                        September 25-29

            October 16-20                                                             Other dates to be determined

Tax payments can always be mailed to 275 Cumberland Parkway, #325, Mechanicsburg 17055 or dropped in either the outside or inside drop boxes at the Township building.

School Real Estate Tax Bill

School real estate tax bills will go out on/about July 1, 2023

Last date to pay at “discount” is August 31, 2023

Upper Allen Township is pleased to announce that the Township will be awarded a $450,000 grant from Cumberland County.  Funding from the grant will be used to construct over 1 mile of walking and biking trails at the 60-acre Upper Allen Generations Park, located at 1340 E. Lisburn Road.  In 2021, the Township hosted a series of public input sessions to determine what types of activities residents would like to see most at Generations Park. The discount period for paying your County/Municipal Real Estate tax bill is fast approaching!  After April 30, we will be in the “face” period and the 2% discount will no longer apply.  Tax payments may be mailed to Sharon Shipman, Tax Collector, 275 Cumberland Parkway, #325, Mechanicsburg 17055, dropped off at the box outside the main entrance to the Township building after hours, dropped in the box inside the main entrance during business hours, or paid in person at the Tax Office window Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

If you have not received a bill, please contact me in the office and I can provide you with a copy.  While I can be reached at 717-766-4238, the quickest and most efficient way to contact me is by emailing me at uataxoffice@gmail.com.  I may not always be able to answer the phone, but I frequently check my emails and can quickly scan and email copies of bills, receipts, forms, etc. for quick turnaround. 

Remember that failure to receive a bill does not excuse you from the obligation to pay your taxes!

County/Municipal Real Estate tax due dates are as follows:

• Discount period – March 1 thru April 30 (2% discount)
• Face period – May 1 thru June 30
• Penalty period – July 1 thru December 31 (10% penalty)
• After December 31, unpaid taxes are turned over to the Cumberland County Tax Claim Bureau for collection.  Please note that interest and additional fees are added when it reaches this point.
