Mechanicsburg Area Celebrates Park and Recreation Professionals Day
MECHANICSBURG, Pennsylvania – The Mechanicsburg Area Parks and Recreation Department is hosting Park & Recreation Professional Day, July 15, at Friendship Park, 1901 Fisher Rd., Mechanicsburg, from 10-12 noon.
Park and Recreation Professionals Day, #ParkandRecDay, is back for its third year on July 15, 2021, and is celebrated during National Park and Recreation Month.
Tonya Brown, Director of Mechanicsburg Area Parks & Recreation says, “Recreation professionals, instructors, volunteer’s, coaches, camp counselors, life guards, and part-time staff all deserve this recognition across the country.”
The celebration is in collaboration with all municipalities including Upper Allen, Mechanicsburg, and Shiremanstown Borough.
Highlights of the event include representation and speaking by Cindy Dunn – Secretary of Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, as well as, recognition of the 20-year anniversary of the Summer Adventure Camp program.
The Community Champion Award will be presented to the Wildcat Foundation and Operation Wildcat by Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society – PRPS in recognition of their outstanding efforts and contribution to the advancement of Recreation and Parks as an essential community service.
About Mechanicsburg Area Parks & Recreation: The Mechanicsburg Area Parks & Recreation Department is a forty-year joint municipality agreement between Mechanicsburg and Shiremanstown Borough’s and Upper Allen Township and the Mechanicsburg School District.
